Watercolour Techniques: Fall Colours

Paint the vibrant colours and foliage of the Ontario fall. We will complete a small watercolour painting using a limited palette and a variety of textural and wet-into-wet techniques.

Absolutely needed for this workshop:
  • Quinacridone gold
  • Aureolin or Hansa Yellow
  • Permanent Rose
  • Vermilion or equivalent
  • cobalt blue
  • Size 12 wash brush
  • Size 4 and 8 round brush
  • min 3 sheets of 8×10 Cold Press 100% cotton rag Watercolour Paper (cut down from a larger sheet, or purchase a pad or block)

*Paints should be artist quality watercolours tubes (not pans) for best results.

About the Instructor:

Kelley Aitken is an author and artist. She has exhibited in Canada and Ecuador and has work in many private collections and is represented in the Canada Council Art Bank collection. Her work can be seen at www.kelleyaitken.com

Love in a Warm Climate, The Porcupine’s Quill, 1998 was nominated for Best First Book, the Commonwealth Prize. She co-edited First Writes, Banff Press, 2003. Current writing projects include a novel Dreaming of Tom Thomson, and a manuscript of essays, images and poetry about art, Drawing and Love.

Kelley has taught art for over 25 years, offering private classes and workshops, and running art programs for community-based agencies serving newcomers to Canada and women experiencing long-term poverty. She has taught surface design at Sheridan College and currently teaches drawing and writing programs in the collections of the Art Gallery of Ontario.

All ARTiculations workshops require advance registration, unless otherwise noted. Admission to Artist Talks is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
In the event of a workshop cancellation, registrants will be notified prior to the workshop start date and a full refund will be given. Participant cancellations are not refundable within two business days of the workshop date.

Youth Registration: We require the ARTiculations Youth Registration Package to be completed for your child prior to participating in our programming. Once completed, this package is kept on file for the academic year.
