Test that paper! Materials Included
We’ll begin the afternoon with a quick overview of Japanese paper and its characteristics. The hands-on portion will start with a few paper handling tips and techniques. This will include how to quickly and easily cut down a larger sheet into smaller pieces, recreating a deckled edge and handling wet sheets.
Then we’ll try a variety of papers out with a selection of wet and dry media focusing on using drawing techniques. Using the same methods and media on each of the papers will give us a basis for comparison. Suggestions for overcoming perceived limitations will be offered, and sharing results with each other will broaden our learning.
Sigrid will have artwork on washi by a number of different artists from the Japanese Paper Place collection to show and inspire.
