Abstract Acrylic Painting : Portraits (3wks) *DAYTIME

Look at Abstract painting using the face as the jumping off point , trying out symmetry vs. asymmetry, colour like the fauvists and distortion like Picasso and Modigliani . They may start out recognizable but abstraction is the goal. We will work form direct observation and photo references.
Materials List: you really need at least the items in bold.
All of the below items can be purchased at ARTiculations store, First class materials supplied by ARTiculations. Please bring all materials each week to class.
Paint: Golden-Holbein –big tube of titanium white , carbon or mars black, light and medium yellow, red, magenta , ultramarine blue, pthalo blue . The more colours you have, the more variety
and less mixing you do but more disharmony in painting, pick colours you like.
Variety of brushes: –round synthetic no 4 or 6 or 10, flat hogs hair 6,8, 10 or 12
Other items: – palette, pencil, erasure, paper towel
Yogurt or sour cream containers with lids work great as paint can be saved for next week.
Surfaces: mixed media paper pad/paper for studies plus, the surfaces listed in the weekly outline
We work with instructors to keep required supplies to a minimum. For those materials you need to purchase, we offer a one time 20% discount in the shop for each registration.
Instructor: Lauren McKinley Renzetti
Lauren McKinley Renzetti is an artist, designer, educator, maker, and scenic painter for the film industry. She has shown her work throughout Ontario,Brooklyn and Bulgaria. Her role as an educator, spanning over twenty-five years has taken her to Georgian College, McMaster University, Ryerson University, the Art Gallery of Hamilton,and art Works art School. She currently works at the Art For Cancer Foundation, LucSculpture in the east end as well as the AGO. Her work predominantly is texture based: relief printmaking, collage, mixed media sculpture and high relief detritus painting in acrylic. She is represented by ArtBomb, The PATCH Project and was also the artist–in-residence at Unicamp of Ontario where she facilitated large community building art projects for ten years.She is also the curator of Neighbourhood Gallery in the east end.
All ARTiculations workshops require advance registration, unless otherwise noted. Admission to Artist Talks is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
In the event of a workshop cancellation, registrants will be notified prior to the workshop start date and a full refund will be given. Participant cancellations are not refundable within two business days of the workshop date.
