RENEGADE, is an exhibition of recent paintings based on cropped, digitally altered photographs. I reference built environments in my work and incorporate fragmented imagery of industrial architecture, commercial logos, and graffiti. My practice is deeply rooted in the process and is motivated by the transformative potential of painting; its mutability through space, surface, and form. While images provide the groundwork for initiating ideas; painting is the primary tool I use for embarking a more intuitive approach.
Milena Roglic received an MFA from York University (2014) and a BFA from Concordia University (2004). She has participated in recent group exhibitions at The MacLaren Art Centre (Barrie, ON), Art Mûr (Montreal, QC) and Hamilton Artists Inc. (Hamilton, ON). Milena is currently preparing for a 4-month long residency in Leipzig, Germany where she will produce a new series of work that will be exhibited at the historic Spinnerei complex.
