Footstool Weaving

Saturday October 5th, 2013

$135 + hst (all materials included)

Weave a diamond pattern onto a footstool frame using smoked flat reed. Learn how to translate a drafted pattern into a woven pattern, while learning the characteristics of the material. Done in small batch runs, these handsome footstool frames are turned and assembled by a local family owned business. Frames are included in this class. Artist Instructor: Donna Kim

Donna Kim specializes in the nearly lost art of chair caning & seat weaving, and has a Toronto based studio where she restores chairs for clients, and teaches a variety of seat weaving classes. Donnaʼs foundation in chair caning & seat weaving has fueled her curiosity to pursue other areas of functional and aesthetic woven structures using fibre and plant based materials, including: Fabric weaving, tapestry, and experimental and utilitarian three dimensional forms.
