DIY PRINTMAKING with Loree Ovens

Learn alternative ways of printmaking that could be easily adapted for a home studio setup without a press! Topics could include: painterly prints, trace monotype, creating plates from upcycled materials and experimental techniques from handmade printing.

*This class requires 4 participants to run.

For this class, most of your materials are included. See your Materials List that you are required to bring below.

ARTiculations students are offered a one time 20% off coupon that can be used during the duration of your course.

Materials that students will bring

  • Thin powder free nitrile gloves (or similar) found in hardware or drug stores
  • An apron or wear old clothes
  • A folder or small portfolio to carry home work
  • Class #2 bring an empty tetra box (such as a  juice box, almond milk box) that can be used for a plate. Flat clear plastic lids from spinach or similar products can also be used.

About Loree

Loree Ovens is a visual artist working in a variety of media including a wide range of printmaking techniques. Her specialties include etching, collagraph, drypoint, relief and screen. Her background in craft and textiles has led her to produce encaustic, sculptural and metal work. Loree is also known for her use of washi (handmade Japanese paper).

She enjoys teaching all ages & skill levels.

Loree’s work has been shown in national and international exhibitions in Canada, Japan, United States, Taiwan, Australia and Scotland. Her work is part of both private and public collections including the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada, Art Gallery of New South Wales, National Gallery of Australia, Canberra, Australia and SGC International.

Loree Ovens is a member of Propeller Gallery and Open Studio in Toronto.

All ARTiculations workshops require advance registration, unless otherwise noted. In the event of insufficient enrolment, registrants will be notified prior to the workshop start date and a full refund will be given. No refunds/credits will be provided for withdrawal fewer than five business days prior to the start of class. ARTiculations does not provide make-up classes or substitutions. This policy is subject to change without notice.
