As a painter, Burrows is interested in the relationships that form between materials. Her abstract paintings are texture playgrounds created through a process additive and subtractive methods of applying paints, thinners and mediums using brush, knife scraper and sanders.
Art allows me to attack my canvas without any preconceived ideas. I intuitively create while paying close attention to my materials and the relationships that develop between them. These different materials determine the various textures on the canvas; as a result, my art is not purely aesthetic but also a tactile experience.
Burrows has taught at the Maclaren Art Centre, Art Gallery of Ontario, Todmorden Mills Museum and Art Centre and Art Works Art School. She recently curated photo response exhibition, Transmission, at Art Works Art Gallery in May 2012. You can see her work in the upcoming exhibition, AWOL Square Foot Show August 4-19th, 2012
