Printmaking + Book Arts: Create hand stitched artist books with Monotype techniques on Japanese Papers

Monotype- Learn how to create your own painterly prints on an etching press. Water wash up inks will be used.

Book Arts- Turn your fresh prints into beautiful books! Create a soft-cover single book. A simple technique of creating a book from a single sheet of paper as well as stab binding will be shown. Learn how to incorporate your own drawings, doodles and collages in to your own unique books.

Artist Instructor: Loree Ovens 

Loree Ovens is a visual artist working in a variety of media including a wide range of printmaking techniques. Her specialties include etching, collagraph, drypoint, relief and screen. Her background in craft and textiles has led her to produce encaustic, sculptural and metal work. Loree is also known for her use of washi (handmade Japanese paper).

She enjoys teaching all ages & skill levels.

Loree’s work has been shown in national and international exhibitions in Canada, Japan, United States, Taiwan, Australia and Scotland. Her work is part of both private and public collections including the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada,

Art Gallery of New South Wales, National Gallery of Australia, Canberra, Australia and

SGC International.

Loree Ovens is represented by David Kaye Gallery and Open Studio in Toronto.

All ARTiculations workshops require advance registration, unless otherwise noted. Admission to Artist Talks is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
In the event of a workshop cancellation, registrants will be notified prior to the workshop start date and a full refund will be given. Participant cancellations are not refundable within two business days of the workshop date.

Youth Registration: We require the ARTiculations Youth Registration Package to be completed for your child prior to participating in our programming. Once completed, this package is kept on file for the academic year.
