Perfect a short story or chapter from your novel-in-progress during this 8 week/20hour advanced workshop course. Students with 10 to 40 pages of manuscript are invited to join this intimate professionally run,supportive and creative environment with instructor and writer Ibi Kaslik. Aspects of writing to be covered include the following: style, dialogue, structure, point of view, and voice. Course includes weekly readings of influential fiction and essays, discussion, workshopping, discussions on craft and writing exercises to support both short narrative fiction and longer works. Students must commit to attending class regularly, completing assigned readings and critiquing the work of other class members.Students are invited to workshop twice during the course and submit a polished final piece/chapter or story with additional feedback from instructor. All genres fiction welcome. Limit is 9 writers so please sign up by May 31st to secure your spot.
About the Instructor

Ibi Kaslik is a Canadian novelist, freelance writer and teaches creative writing at the University of Toronto. Her work appears in North American magazines and newspapers. Her debut novel, Skinny, published by Harper Collins Canada (May 2004), was short-listed for the Best First Novel Award (Amazon 2004), Best Young Adult Novel (Canadian Library Association, May, 2005), and the Borders Original Voice award (U.S. 2006). Skinny has been published in Australia and America and forthcoming in Israel, Russia, France, and the Netherlands. Ibi’s second novel, The Angel Riots, was published March 15th, 2008. Currently, Ibi lives in Toronto, Ontario.
