Magic Pony Screen Printing Workshop Series

Magic Pony worshop posterrr webMAGIC PONY SUMMER SCREEN PRINTING WORKSHOP SERIESMPLOGO
In these introductory level courses students will learn silkscreening techniques such as how to make screen positives, coat and shoot silk screens and hand-printing with the end goal of being able to make use of some these techniques in a home studio. By the end of the two day workshop students will be able to take home a collection of their very own original screen-printed fabrics or papers.

Class One – Introduction: We will go over a brief history and some of the methods associated with screen-printing, then we will jump right into printing with some pre-made screens to help students get the hang of things. Students are also encouraged to have a printed black and white image ready for the first class so that we can start preparing their design onto silkscreen for class two.

Class Two – Printing: By the second class everyone in the class should have a screen with a personalized design exposed into it, and can begin printing. Although each session has a particular focus, you are welcome to bring any additional paper, fabrics, t-shirts, or whatever other flat surface that you want to decorate with your images!

Techniques:  Using a squeegee, ink mixing, coating and exposing images onto a screen, how to best format an image for silkscreening, safety, stenciling

Supplies: All necessary materials will be provided. Feel free to bring your own inspiration images and additional materials to print on as well.
