Join us after school on Tuesdays for an art journey around this neighborhood. We will
sketch and paint and even print, finding inspiration in the buildings, trees and perhaps the
very sidewalks we trod upon daily. Lets look at the big picture (a mural), together and
make art about this place we call home. Artist Instructor: Daphne McCormack

Homemade Cards

You made them when you were a kiddo, but don’t forget a homemade card is always a thoughtful gesture no matter what age! Keep it simple, and try to use some recycled materials – think old maps, books or cool wrapping paper that you’ve been holding on to. Here is a great little tutorial from the folks over at Travelettes

Gel Image Transfers

Here is a great tutorial about Gel Image Transfers. Gel transfers are a great way to create translucent images that can be incorporated into your artwork as a collage element. Once you get the basic concept down, you can go off in all sorts of directions with these transfers. Why not try this technique with photocopies of family photos?

This Saturday, Donna Kim from Edge of Your Seat is back again to lead her wonderful Footstool Weaving Workshop

Beyond the fact that you leave with a beautifully designed piece of furniture, it is nice to know that the materials used in your workshop are in keeping with our favourite thing- staying local. Done in small batch runs, these handsome footstool frames are turned and assembled by a local family owned business. Bonus points: they’re made of ash wood, and you all know how we feel about finding great new was to use ash!

Our Youth Collective is set to start this Tuesday and we need some more young artists to join!
This 10 week course is focused on what it means to be an artist in contemporary society, while providing a space for fun, creative exploration, portfolio enhancement, and the chance to meet like-minded people! Emphasis will be placed on the use of found materials, printmaking, mixed media sculpture, photography, book making, performance, video art, drawing and painting. In June, after the end of the program, the Youth Collective will rejoin and take over the Earl Selkirk Gallery to produce, market, and curate a 10 day exhibition of their work!
