Portfolio Workshop for Visual Arts-academic high school programs
January 4,5 & 6th, 2012                  
Basic workshop fee: $40
To attend both Open Studio dates, please add an additional $20.
Students will also be given a one time 15% off ARTiculations coupon for supplies

The Portfolio Workshop is for students applying to Visual Arts-academic high school programs.  This is a great opportunity if you or your child is looking to review their portfolio before interviews & auditions taking place in January.
January 4th & 5th: 1:1 Appointments
We will go through portfolio & admission guidelines for your chosen school(s) alongside your current work and curate a portfolio plan to prepare for your interview. Appointments are 45min-1hr in length.
January 5th & 6th: Open Studio 2-6pm
Open Studio sessions are reserved for Portfolio Workshop participants who would like to work on projects for their portfolio interviews.  Although there is no instruction for these sessions, Miki and Heather will both be available to answer questions and give support!

Family Sunday

Our Family Sunday Workshop is designed for parents and children to explore a variety of media and concepts related to art.  In each session we will focus on a different medium or concept. Sign up early – space is limited !

Artist Talk Series: Amanda McCavour
Wednesday January 18th 7pm

Amanda McCavour is a Toronto-based artist and holds a BFA from York University where she studied drawing and installation.  Since graduating in 2007, she has participated in national and international exhibitions and has recently completed residencies at Harbourfront Centre’s Textile Studio in Toronto and at the Klondike Institute of Art and Culture in Dawson City, Yukon. McCavour uses a sewing machine to create thread drawings and installations by sewing into a fabric that dissolves in water.  She is interested in the vulnerability of thread, its ability to unravel, and its strength when it is sewn together.

Drawing to Music with Christian Masotti

This workshop is designed to open up your drawing experience through music and sound. Leave behind your ideas of what drawing is and have some fun exploring where your ears can lead you.

Art Escapades: Mixed Media Collage
Saturday January 21st 9a.m-11:00a.m OR 11:30a.m-1:30pm

This mixed media-based class will allow children to explore and learn about many art materials and techniques to create an interesting visual image.  Using different materials such as paint, paper and found objects, children will create their very own work of art ready for display!

Crafternoon

Come get your craft on at Crafternoon! This is how it works: You bring a project to work on and we’ll provide a few extra bits and pieces to keep you inspired.  Find out how awesome it is to make things in the company of other crafty pals.

Paper Cut Art Workshop

The age-old tradition of paper cutting has never been more popular, In this workshop, you’ll learn more about this timeless craft and then create an intricate cutting of your own design from a single sheet of paper! Need some inspiration? We’ll help you out with a template to start from! You’ll leave with a finished paper cut of your own design and creation, complete with mounting card stock and a cellophane envelope to protect your new work. All tools and materials provided, including quality cutting papers and card stock in a wide assortment of colours.

PA Day Special

Get your kids creative juices a-flowin’ in our full day mixed media art workshop for kids ages 8-12. Each PA Day will be a different art adventure featuring painting, drawing, or sculpture in the morning and specially designed project in the afternoon. Be sure to pack snacks and a nut-free lunch! All materials included. Space is limited so register early!

All ARTiculations workshops require advance registration, unless otherwise noted. Admission to Artist Talks is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
In the event of a workshop cancellation, registrants will be notified prior to the workshop start date and a full refund will be given. Participant cancellations are not refundable within two business days of the workshop date.
